On May 5th, 2008, Trent Reznor released The Slip, Nine Inch Nails 7th studio album, for free online. As was the case with Trent's previous online releases The Slip was available in multiple formats including a new format that had not been available previously, 24-bit/96-KHz WAVE.

24/96 (or 96/24 as it is also known) is higher than CD quality, but requires a special setup to play. Connecting a computer up to a good sound system can be a bitch, but nearly every home theatre today has a DVD Player and a lot of them have surround systems that support 24/96 or high resolution audio.

That's where The Slip DVD-Audio comes in. DVD-Audio allows 24/96 quality music to be played back on a fairly standard home theatre setup. The only catch is you need a DVD-Audio player.
