So last Wed. I was kind of border and finally relented into going for a long drive to check out some highway my friend was interested in. We never made it to the highway, but we did have some fun along the way.
First up on our tour of random sightings is this sign. This may not mean much to people in Saudi Arabia where gas is a mere $0.12 a US Gallon, but here in Canada, where gas is $1.28 a Liter, these signs are bloody rare.
We left the gas station and continued on our merry way. Next stop, the road to Calabogie.
Though I had been out this way several times just to enjoy the windy roads, I hadn't taken the time to enjoy the scenery. So while James was driving, I was fooling around with the camera and practicing framing. This was my first attempt. I rather like it, thought I wish the mirror had not caught me. I'd have preferred it pure and devoid oh humanity.
I also decided to play with the video function of my friend camera which is surprisingly giid considering it's a Panasonic Point & Shoot. You can't tell but in the second video we're doing about 150 Km/H. When we hit that corner on the hill it was a HARD break.
At the bottom of that last hill we came upon a huge hydro dam, so we decided to stop and take a few pictures.
This warning was plastered literally everywhere,

Apparently the Dam has a street address.

After we finished taking shots at the bottom we decided to follow the road up and around the Dam to see what was there.

Nothing says, "Friendly," like this.

After taking these shots i got a little bold/stupid and decided to hang out the rear driver's window and shoot this.
I really like this shot of the High Voltage power lines

After a while we tired of this area and decided to go for a drive back one of the dirt roads. As you can see from this picture, we had to pick our routes carefully.

One must pay attention when bombing around these back-roads. As you can see here there's no rail and the road drops straight into the river.

This was one of many road hazards we had to navigate around

After awhile we discovered this giant sand pit. I wasn't about to set foot in there.

THis is an absolutely beautiful vista. I plan to make it into a background.

As you can see the road I was driving on has gotten pretty narrow. At this point we had been driving for about 30 minutes looking for a turnaround point.
![]()
Things had gotten pretty rough. Rough enough the car could drive itself.
Warning, if someone else happens to wander her, you will be fined. I doubt we'll run into anyone.

One thing i never expected to find in the middle of nowhere was a road sign. Let alone a proper intersection.

One last thing. When we were driving out the car caught a stick, flung it up and knocked my mirror out. Fortunately it was easily repaired.
